Man oh man, Santo Domingo owes me nothing at all! From the moment we stepped off the plane it was nothing but laughs and love... wells that is outside of the darn immigration line being bat crap long and the BRAND SPANKING NEW tourist fee that I had to pay. *eye roll* SN: When i asked about the fee no one could tell me what it was for and the ticket I got for it was not looked at or asked for again Sooooooo,

But back to the real reason for this post. Last week, my wife and I joined her family on a trip back to their country. Initially, I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I would be getting myself into but boy was I wrong. Not wrong in a negative way but more so in an “ah ha” way. This trip was definitely one for the books. We spent the duration of our trip exploring Tres Ojos and Zona Colonial, kicking it on Av Espana, relaxing on Boca Chicha beack drinking and eating local favorites like Brugal and Presidente; yaniqueques, platanos con salami, pica pollo and mofongo! Half of that I don't eat but that doesn't take away from it being consumed on every corner by everybody and their mamas! ;-)

For recap and vlog purposed this trip was broken into 3 parts:

Part 1: Kicking it like the locals:

The first part of the trip was spent most reconnecting with family and Em pointing out landmarks and childhood spots. We hit the beach with her cousins and their kid, Sterling. He was one of my favorites, he is the kid that is with us on the beach. Got the most entertaining lesson on Mama Juana - is a drink from the Dominican Republic that is concocted by allowing rum, red wine, and honey to soak in a bottle with tree bark and herbs. Allegedly, there is no need for Viagra because this will have you L I T! We ended up getting two because I love a good pitch, his hustle was respectable and it would be the perfect souvenir! (Vlog below.)

Part 2: Tourist Attractions

Zona Colonial is absolutely beautiful. Rich in cultural and tradition, this tourist attraction was the most memorable for me. The architecture in Basilica Cathedral Metropolitana Santa Maria de la Encarnación (Catedral Primada de America) and the National Pantheon of the DR still has me in awe! Check out video footage from our tourist escapades. (Vlog below)

Part 3: La Fiesta

Not right now at least! Lets just say that I am still recovering from it all!
